The Visionary ZMX Zoom Monocular is excellent for general use, but where this one gets really exciting is in the ZOOM facility. Instead of a fixed magnification factor, like 8 or 10 times, you have the facility to pull the image anything from 7 to 21 times closer than the naked eye sees it. This is achieved by turning a very clear and faultlessly simple ring around the body of the monocular.
Having a ZOOM facility does reduce the Field of View - the total area around the image - especially when higher magnification is used. It is not only a ZOOM instrument, pulling in images that are far, far away, but it has a Super-Close Focus facility, allowing it to focus from infinity down to an amazingly close 30cm. This is especially good for viewing nature, plants and insects. For Super-Close pull the front barrel forward.
